Hi everyone its Josh. This is a very short video about a kid named "Fred". This guy has created many videos like this one where he makes the pitch of his voice higher and talks about nothing...at all. He has actually become quite famous for these videos.

Great work Nick. I love the camera's following nature. Your work kept me thinking "how did he do that?!". You really capture a cold feeling, and rather mechanical, to the piece. Probably experimenting with monitors would of served good as well which, as you know, Nauman used in the Public/ Private space installation. R.T

Ramiro- The video you chose friend is one that has shows a comical side to narcissism. It is more of a planned out creation rather than on the spot that other narcissist videos fall under. I would like to hear what stood out for you in this video.

ReplyDeleteThis is a great example of narcissim, and I believe that the young man who plays Fred has done a great job doing so. He captures in one character the thoughts manerisms and common actions of a teenager which usually at that stage in life experiences a lot of narcissitic thought due to the nature and environment of High School. -Charles Finklea
ReplyDeleteWhat stood out for me, Ramiro, is the blatant narcissistic tone that "Fred" takes on in this video. Although it is comical it is one of the most obvious showings of narcissism that I know.

I find it amazing that people who say nothing at all in videos can become famous on youtube. I think that maybe we enjoy watching the act of being narcissistic and that is why we as a society are so intrigued by these videos.
