Charles, It is great to see you experimenting and using performance again. The ideas you are working with are interesting; playing with how to change how we perceive space (public/ private/ fancy/ low key). The video you showed was confusing - at first it felt like you were observer (interesting footage where you video all the people in booths (and I was wondering, did Charles have the camera hidden or??) but it goes on for a while, and then you show us the image of the fancy table in the midst of the caf environment. I would be curious to hear what you were hoping for with the video. Good experimentation. Sheilah
Charles, this piece is so unique and the two parts (the table and the video) were really nicely tied together. There is a sense of romance, humor, and out of place that makes it special and emotional. I did have some questions such as your intention behind this work and inspiration as well. Great piece and really proud of your passion in vid art!
Your entire presentation was very engaging and I love that you brought performance into it. I think the video could have been edited down to be more succinct, but definitely on the right track. And I thoroughly enjoyed the music selection. -Nick
Charles, it was great to see you really push the boundaries with this piece. I think you did a wonderful job of merging a performance and social critique. You improve so much from video to video I can't wait to see what you have in store for us for you final. Keep on keeping on :)
charles, I can truly appreciate this piece because you took a lot of risks. I took it as a commentary on dining at denison and i thought that it was laughable that the classiest place you could take a date is slaytor. I did think the build up to the final dinner took way too long and could have been cut back. Also, i remember you singing in the lab and that all came together very well. Awesome.
Great work Nick. I love the camera's following nature. Your work kept me thinking "how did he do that?!". You really capture a cold feeling, and rather mechanical, to the piece. Probably experimenting with monitors would of served good as well which, as you know, Nauman used in the Public/ Private space installation. R.T
Is this a picture of the installation?
