The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (Ishwar Gill)

The Life Aquatic: With Steve Zissou is by far my favorite movie. I love the character's Wes Anderson uses as well as his quirky film style. He tends to utilize slow motion pans and crabs, bright primary colors, and zoom ins in his films. I found that the scene where Steve Zissou's ship is attacked by pirates contained many shot types, even if they were for brief moments.

Additionally, I cant help but notice how the filter on the camera changes to one that is brighter and more saturated when Steve snaps and takes back his ship in his surreal and romanticized gun fight at 1:56.

0:16 - Wide shot
0:31 - Mid shot
0:48 - Medium close up
0:49 - Point-of-view (from pirates watching tv) as well as a Cutaway
1:17 and 2:00 - Cut-In
1:40 - Close up
1:56 - Extreme close up
2:35 - starts as very wide shot, zooms into wideshot
2:44 - Extreme wide shot of ship with Steve on it.
2:57 - Over the shoulder shot

Great work Nick. I love the camera's following nature. Your work kept me thinking "how did he do that?!". You really capture a cold feeling, and rather mechanical, to the piece. Probably experimenting with monitors would of served good as well which, as you know, Nauman used in the Public/ Private space installation. R.T
